What is liposuction?
Liposuction Beverly Hills sculpts the body by removing unwanted, excess fat from deposits between the skin and the muscle.
This procedure can be applied to many areas of the body where unwanted fat has accumulated.
Liposuction, however, is not treatment for obesity or a replacement for healthy diet and exercise.
You may want liposuction if you:
- Desire a more proportional figure
- Have body fat areas that do not respond to diet and exercise.
After careful examination of factors such as body type, distribution of fat cells within body areas, and skin type in conjunction with patient goals and desires, Dr. Calvert will help put together a customizable approach to achieving superior results.
Liposuction involves the use of a small stainless steel tube, called a cannula, connected to a powerful suction pump.
The cannula is carefully and strategically inserted into the fat deposits through small well-hidden incisions in the skin.
The suction effect of the cannula passing through the fat deposits creates tiny tunnels throughout the fatty layers.
After liposuction, these tiny tunnels collapse and result in an improved body contour.
Once the liposuction process is successfully completed, suctioned fat cells are permanently removed.
If the patient gains weight later on, the new fat is more likely to be distributed in a more proportional manner.
Side effects associated with liposuction include temporary bruising, swelling, numbness, soreness, burning, and general discomfort.
These typically subside within 1-3 weeks.
Before you decide to have liposuction surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with Dr. Calvert.
