Spent the day operating at the Rox Surgery Center in Newport Beach and had the distinct honor to have Dr. Rollin Daniel visit for the rib graft nasal reconstruction we did.
He and I are very interested in the technical aspects on the way the tip gets reconstructed.
There are many theories about the directionality of the lateral crura strut grafts.
Our thinking is that the grafts can be used to do many functional and aesthetic duties depending on the size and placement of the grafts.
Make no mistake, I heard Milos Kovacevic when he said in Paris at the IMCAS meeting, “Beware of the lateral crura that look like chicken wings.” He is right.
The strength, size, pitch, and direction of the grafts are the factors that make them work.
