When Raquel Porter wrote me that I have finally found the right place after my initial consult, I was more than a bit skeptical. I’ve been through 3 rhinoplasties. Doctors said I would never be satisfied, and what I wanted couldn’t be done, and I should go away. They said that I should see a psychologist, and that removing the scar tissue on the side of my nose would make things worse.

So I lived in frustration with that analysis for 14 years thinking I was doomed and I just had to accept my fate, which I never could. This was pervasive throughout my life.

Let me just tell you, you proved all of the skeptics wrong, including myself. I never thought I would be as happy as I am now with your work on my nose. Happy isn’t the word. Ecstatic comes closer. Free and liberated come even closer.

It is better than I even thought it would be. Finally, I won every battle. The scar tissue on my side of the nose is gone forever! Thank you! Not only did you fix the things that we talked about, but even my old scars from the previous surgeries are gone, too!

I don’t think I will ever be able to thank you (and Rollin Daniels for recommending you) enough. He said you were the best out there and you more than proved it.

I don’t have to play the stupid mirror game. It looks great no matter where the light source comes from. It’s a well-balanced, well-formed nose from all angles.

Getting this fixed finally the right way would have saved me thousands in therapy. And the greatest thing of all is that I never have to think about my nose again.

You and your staff have been sensational! I hope you don’t mind that I will stop in now and then just to say hi and thank you again! There is so much more I could say, but instead I’m going to quote William Wallace’s famous last words from BRAVE HEART, “FREEDOM!!!!!”

My first surgical experience was performed by another well qualified doctor here in Newport Beach in April 2004. After several consultations and a great deal of research I selected the doctor I felt most comfortable with as well as a surgeon whom I thought was most qualified for my particular situation. My nose had been damaged from many years of a “wild lifestyle,” causing me to look like a boxer who had taken many punches straight to the nose. This was not another typical rhinoplasty; this was an extremely challenging restructuring of my entire nose. Many experienced surgeons who I first consulted with were unwilling or unable to take me on as a patient. The results of my first surgery completely changed my life, bringing my confidence back and quickly allowing me to make a huge career change and to be married that same year. Heading into surgery I was completely confident in Dr. Calvert and his team. Surgery went extremely well and post op has revealed a result which is nothing short of a miracle. Not only has the infection gone away, but the results of the surgery, including the shape and size of my nose, are nearly perfect. Although there are no guarantees in a surgery such as mine, there is peace of mind in knowing that I have someone like Dr. Calvert in my corner.
