Botox® is a commonly used, simple and safe, non-surgical injection treatment. It blocks impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that can cause wrinkles. Botox specifically relaxes targeted muscles so they do not contract. The overlying skin in the treated areas remains smooth and unwrinkled and the untreated facial muscles contract normally allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected. Using a fine needle, a very small amount of Botox is injected into several locations on the face. Most patients compare the sensation to a tiny bug bite. No sedation or local anesthetic is required and you can resume normal activities immediately.
