Philosophy
 

Dr. Calvert received his Doctor of Medicine degree from The Cornell University Medical College in New York City.  Following medical school, he achieved admission and completed the highly competitive “combined” training program for general and plastic surgery at the distinguished University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, a program known for training the highest quality aesthetic and reconstructive surgeons through academic rigor and consistent exposure to complex surgical cases. Dr. Calvert’s vast surgical experience coupled with his extensive plastic surgery training make him well-equipped to serve the complete plastic surgery needs of his patients.

The mission of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc.® is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification and recertification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists. The American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc.® is the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties to credential plastic surgeons. All board-certified plastic surgeons have satisfactorily completed an approved residency training program and have passed rigorous written and oral specialty examinations.

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) is a scientific and educational association of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to improve the quality of care for the surgical patient by setting high standards for surgical education and practice.

Dr. Calvert received his general and plastic surgery training at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), one of the most renowned academic medical centers in the United States. The hospital serves over 4 million people annually and is consistently ranked as one of the nation’s Top Hospitals by U.S. News and World Report. The Division of Plastic Surgery at UPMC has one of the most highly-regarded plastic surgery training programs in the country. Typically each year only one person is selected for admission into the extremely competitive Integrated Plastic Surgery Training Program. In this specialized program, all 7 years of surgical training are provided under the direction of the Plastic Surgery Program Director.

Dr. Calvert obtained his medical degree from Weill Medical College of Cornell University located in New York City.  The Medical College is among the top-ranked clinical and medical research centers in the country and is divided into 20 academic departments:  seven departmental areas focus on the sciences underlying clinical medicine and thirteen encompass the study, treatment, and prevention of human diseases and maternity care. Weill Medical College's educational mission emphasizes the importance of combining a strong basic foundation in the medical sciences with extensive clinical training in patient care.

With the combination of cutting-edge research and a distinguished medical center, undergraduate students aspiring to continue on to medical school or graduate level work collaborate with a world-renowned accredited faculty. Dr. Calvert received his B.A. degree in Molecular Biology.
